Summary

This article describes Tableau Personal Access Token Authentication (PAT). Using this Platform authentication type, InfoBurst will authenticate to Tableau Server using a PAT.

Create PAT

The following Tableau article explains how to generate and manage a PAT within Tableau:

https://help.tableau.com/current/server/en-us/security_personal_access_tokens.htm

Restrictions

Tableau does not permit concurrent usage of a single PAT. Concurrent use of a single PAT will cause Tableau to terminate any open concurrent session(s). For this reason, InfoBurst requires that a user provide at least two PATs (one reserved for Platform browsing and one reserved for Burst runtime). A user can provide multiple PATs if required for increased Tableau concurrency.

Tableau expires PATs after one year. Update PATs in Tableau and InfoBurst accordingly.

InfoBurst PAT Management

  • Select user profile (top right)
  • Select Platform Credentials
  • Select or add the Tableau Platform
  • Add Token Name, Token Secret, and Update to add a PAT
  • Select the delete button to delete a PAT
