Summary

This article describes the requirements for installing InfoBurst and InfoBurst compatibility with related environments and software. Requirements may vary based on intended usage.

Compatibility

The following matrix details InfoBurst-supported environments, services, and third-party software. Compatibility is based on the current InfoBurst version only.

Windows Server

InfoBurst is a Microsoft .NET application and requires Windows Server and the Microsoft .NET Framework.

Crystal Reports must install InfoBurst on a dedicated server due to reliance on the BI Platform .NET SDK Runtime (see Crystal Reports below).

Recommendation: Install InfoBurst on a dedicated virtual server for ease of backup, update, and restoration.

Hardware

The following are minimum hardware requirements for InfoBurst operation:

CPUDual Core 2.5GHz
Memory8GB
Disk1GB on installation partition for application files
2GB on C partition for initial installation
2GB minimum free space at all times for system operation

Ports

Add inbound and outbound rules to Windows Firewall to allow access to InfoBurst ports 8550-8555.

Database Repository

InfoBurst requires a database to host its repository. InfoBurst can use SQL Server, Oracle, or SQLite to host the repository. See for Repository Management details.

Recommendation: Use a SQLite repository for optimal performance

SQLiteCreated automatically upon installation
SQL ServerUser privileges: DROP TABLE, CREATE TABLE, CREATE INDEX, ALTER TABLE
Size: Enable database autogrowth
Authentication: SQL Server Authentication or Windows Authentication supported
OracleUser privileges: CREATE TABLE, CREATE TRIGGER, CREATE SEQUENCE, CREATE INDEXTYPE, UNLIMITED TABLESPACE
Driver: InfoBurst deploys and utilizes the Oracle Managed Data Access driver. No Oracle client software is required.

SAP BusinessObjects

We recommend InfoBurst be installed on a server separate from BusinessObjects. Major version and support package updates are supported within 90 days of general release.

Crystal Reports

The BI Platform .NET SDK Runtime must be installed on the InfoBurst server for Crystal Reports processing.

Web Service Connectivity

InfoBurst interfaces with BusinessObjects using a variety of BusinessObjects web services based on usage.

BIPRWS

InfoBurst requires access to Business Intelligence Platform Web Services (BIPRWS). BIPRSW can be accessed via BusinessObjects Web Application Container Server (default port = 6405) or Tomcat (default port = 8080).

To test for BIPRWS connectivity, open a browser tab on the server hosting InfoBurst and enter:

http://<BO_SERVER>:<PORT>/biprws (example: http://bo-prod:6405/biprws)

A successful connection will result in an XML response similar to the following:

Tomcast DSWS (Crystal Reports)

For certain Crystal Reports delivery workflows, InfoBurst requires access to legacy Tomcat DSWS web services. To test for Tomcat web services connectivity (default port = 8080), open a browser tab and enter:

http://<TOMCAT_SERVER>:<PORT>/dswsbobje/services (example: http://bo-prod:8080/dswsbobje/services)

Tableau

Tableau users accessing Tableau Server from InfoBurst must have Site Administrator Explorer site membership.

SharePoint

See SharePoint Access for Microsoft requirements for InfoBurst access.

Power BI

See Power BI Access for Microsoft requirements for InfoBurst access. Microsoft requires a Premium or Fabric Capacity license applied at the Workspace level for Power BI Report and Paginated Report publishing.
