Summary

This article describes the requirements for installing InfoBurst and InfoBurst compatibility with related environments and software. Requirements may vary based on intended usage.

Windows Server

InfoBurst is a Microsoft .NET application and requires Windows Server and the Microsoft .NET Framework. See Compatibility section above for version support.

It is recommended that Crystal Reports users install InfoBurst on a dedicated server due to reliance on the BI Platform .NET SDK Runtime (see Crystal Reports below).

Tip: Install InfoBurst on a dedicated virtual server for ease of backup, update, and restoration.

Hardware

The following are minimum hardware requirements for InfoBurst operation:

CPUDual Core 2.5GHz
Memory8GB
Disk1GB on installation partition for application files
2GB on C partition for initial installation
2GB minimum free space at all times for system operation

Ports

Add inbound and outbound rules to Windows Firewall to allow access to InfoBurst ports 8550-8555.

Database Repository

InfoBurst requires a database to host its repository. InfoBurst can use SQL Server, Oracle, or SQLite to host the repository. See Compatibility section above for supported versions.

Tip: Use a dedicated database/schema for easier backup and recovery.

SQL ServerUser privileges:DROP TABLE, CREATE TABLE, CREATE INDEX, ALTER TABLE
Size: Enable database autogrowth
Authentication: SQL Server Authentication or Windows Authentication supported
OracleUser privileges: CREATE TABLE, CREATE TRIGGER, CREATE SEQUENCE, CREATE INDEXTYPE, UNLIMITED TABLESPACE
Driver: InfoBurst deploys and utilizes the Oracle Managed Data Access driver. No Oracle client software is required.

SAP BusinessObjects

We recommend InfoBurst be installed on a server separate from BusinessObjects.

See Compatibility section above for supported versions. Major version and support package updates are supported within 90 days of general release.

Crystal Reports

The BI Platform .NET SDK Runtime must be installed on the InfoBurst server for Crystal Reports processing.
See Compatibility section above for supported version.

Web Service Connectivity

InfoBurst communicates with SAP BusinessObjects via the Business Intelligence Platform Web Services (BIPRWS). BIPRSW is hosted in the BusinessObjects WebApplicationContainerServer (WACS). WACS must be running and its port (default = 6405) open for successful connectivity from InfoBurst.

BIPRWS
To test for BIPRWS connectivity, open a browser tab and enter:

http://<BO_SERVER>:<PORT>/biprws

A successful connection will result in an XML response similar to the following:

Tomcat

Access to legacy Tomcat web services may be required in some circumstances. To test for Tomcat web services connectivity (default port = 8080), open a browser tab and enter:

http://<TOMCAT_SERVER>:<PORT>/dswsbobje/services/listServices

Tableau

See Compatibility section above for supported versions.

Tableau user accessing Tableau Server from InfoBurst must have Site Administrator Explorer site membership.

Power BI

See Compatibility section above for supported versions.

See Power BI Server Authentication for Microsoft requirements for InfoBurst authentication.

SQL Server Reporting Services

See Compatibility section above for supported versions.
