Summary


This article describes how to enable SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to secure communications to and from the InfoBurst Platform.


Prerequisites
  • Installation of a valid SSL certificate. See your Windows/network administrator for information about obtaining an SSL certificate.
  • Certificate domain must match fully qualified domain used to connect to InfoBurst

Install a Certificate (Windows Server)


The following procedures outline how to apply an SSL certificate to the server hosting the InfoBurst Platform. These instructions are generic. Please consult a Windows administrator before attempting to apply an SSL certificate.


Certificate Installation

  • Copy the certificate file to the server
  • Double-click to install and select Install Certificate
  • Select Place all certificates in the following store and select localmachine store

Add the Certificates Snap-in
  • Log into the server as Administrator
  • Open a command prompt and enter MMC to launch the Microsoft Management Console
  • Select File and Add/Remove Snap-in
  • Select Certificates and Add
  • Select Computer account and Next
  • Select Local computer and Finish

Verify Certificate Installation
  • In the MMC select Console Root > Certificates > Personal > Certificates
  • Verify the certificate is present in the list

Enable SSL
  • In InfoBurst select Settings > System Configuration
  • Select Enable SSL then select the certificate
  • Select Save
  • Stop the InfoBurstPlatform service
  • Open a command prompt and browse to the application root (default = C:\Program Files (x86)\InfoSol\InfoBurstPlatform)
  • Enter enable_ssl
  • Start the InfoBurstPlatform service

SSL is now enabled. The InfoBurst user interface URL will now require HTTPS. SAP Dashboard users must enable SSL in any/all dashboard connectors.


Disable SSL


Do not delete the certificate until the following steps are executed:

  • In InfoBurst select Settings > System Configuration
  • Uncheck Enable SSL
  • Select Save
  • Stop the InfoBurstPlatform service
  • Open a command prompt and browse to the application root (default = C:\Program Files (x86)\InfoSol\InfoBurstPlatform)
  • Enter disable_ssl
  • Start the InfoBurstPlatform service


SSL is now disabled. The InfoBurst user interface URL no longer requires HTTPS. SAP Dashboard users must disable SSL in any/all dashboard connectors.


Change SSL Certificate

  • Execute the Disable SSL process described above
  • Install the new SSL certificate (see Install a Certificate above)
  • Execute the Enable SSL process described above
