Summary

This article describes Tableau Personal Access Token Authentication (PAT). Using this Platform authentication type, InfoBurst will authenticate to Tableau Server using a Personal Access Token instead of InfoBurst user-level Platform Credentials.

Create Personal Access Token

The following Tableau article explains how to generate and manage a Personal Access Token:

https://help.tableau.com/current/server/en-us/security_personal_access_tokens.htm

InfoBurst Configuration

  • Create a new Tableau Server Platform (or open existing)
  • Locate Personal Access Token Authentication
  • Enter the Token Name and Token Secret
  • Select Save
  • Select the Test Logon button to test App-Only authentication

Restrictions

The following Tableau article describes limitations of PAT usage:

https://help.tableau.com/current/server/en-us/security_personal_access_tokens.htm

From Tableau:

One personal access token is required per concurrent request. Signing in again with the same access token, whether at the same site or a different site, will terminate the previous session and result in an authentication error.
