This issue is addressed in Build 240 FP6.

this workaround resolved the problem. (we are on 240 sp7)

The following error occurs on the SET PARAMETER step in a WebI report burst:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object
This issue is under investigation.
Disabling Parameter LOV Validation may work around this issue:
