Crystal EXPORT error "The Report Application Server failed"

InfoBurst makes an Export request to the BusinessObjects Crystal Reports SDK. BusinessObjects responds with the following error:


The Report Application Server failed


This error is known to occur when the BusinessObjects server version is BI 4.3 SP03 Patches 600-800 and BusinessObjects .NET SDK Runtime BI 4.3 SP03. The issue is the result of changes described in  SAP Note 3392922. SAP has provided the following workaround and has indicated the issue will be addressed in BI 4.3 SP04.


  • Uninstall from the InfoBurst server the current version of SAP BusinessObjects .NET SDK Redistributable
  • Install SAP BusinessObjects .NET SDK Runtime 4.3 SP03 Patch 400 64-bit
  • Stop the InfoBurst service
  • On the InfoBurst server, make a backup of the following files:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\sapcrypto.dll
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\slcryptokernel.dll
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\slcryptokernel.dll.sha256
  • On the BusinessObjects server, locate the same files (same path) and copy them to the same path on the InfoBurst server, overwriting the existing files
  • Start the InfoBurst service
